C21-#1 Fundraiser in Canada Award Goes to C21 Saskatoon!

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

I am proud to be one of 62 realtors with Century 21 in Saskatoon! CREA (The Canadian Real Estate Association) has ranked Century 21 Conexus Realty in Saskatoon as the #1 Fundraiser in Canada…since 2004!

What does that mean? That means our company has beat out every other company, organization, etc across the country in our fundraising efforts for EVERY fundraiser held by every real estate organization in the country, for 6 years in a row!

Century 21 in Saskatoon  and the Century 21 realtors in Saskatoon, along with all of the support staff and their families, have raised funds for Easter Seals Camps. In the summer the 24 hour relay raised almost $40,000 and in September the popular “Easter Seals Drop Zone” raised more than $12,000. Realtors in Saskatoon with Century 21 and support staff alike harnessed themselves to the side of a high rise building and rappel downwards. But not this Saskatoon realtor ®. I prefer to stand and cheer on my fellow Saskatoon realtors and our amazing support staff. They support us in our daily jobs but also join in the support to send more than 6000 kids with disabilities annually to camp in 22 locations.

Way to go Century 21 in Saskatoon! If you want to help support Easter Seals then you can buy or sell a house through a Century 21 representitive in Saskatoon.

Gene Simmons of KISS to Speak in Saskatoon

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Can’t get tickets to see KISS on November 10th? Feeling a bit too old to rock out anyways? You can see him speak at the Saskatchewan Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs luncheon on November 11th, the day after the Kiss concert in Saskatoon.

With great thanks to a friend of mine, Janea Bellay (who is also a great life and health insurance and mutual funds advisor in Saskatoon), SYPE has landed Gene Simmons to speak as he knows about business, marketing and he is also a great entrepreneur.

Way to go Janea!

For more information or tickets to this Saskatoon event, see below:

The business luncheon runs from noon to 1:30 p.m. at TCU Place, with doors opening at 11:30 p.m. The event includes a question-and-answer session with Simmons. Tickets cost $75 plus GST. They can be purchased at www.sype.ca/Saskatoon/home.html

Maybe I should go and see if Gene Simmons wants to buy a house for sale in Saskatoon . After all, his long time partner, Shannon Tweed, is from Saskatoon.

Annual Pride Parade – City of Saskatoon’s Largest Yet

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

Saturday June 13, 2009 saw the best turn out for Saskatoon’s Pride Parade. The 2 city block long train of rainbow flag carriers and Saskatoon GLBT crowd at the parade was the most attended of the week long pride festivities. Pride week is showing that Saskatoon is a tolerant and accepting community of all individuals, lifestyles and sexual orientations. Amongst the booths during pride week you could find the City of Saskatoon Police service as well as some church groups who were there to show their support of the Saskatoon GLBT community.

Despite the support of the local Saskatoon GLBT crowd, we are missing support from the average citizen. I do believe that the city of Saskatoon is GLBT friendly overall, but the general public needs to do more to support this vibrant community as it is just one of the many groups who help form our city and who help make Saskatoon what it is.

I am happy to say that I am a GLBT friendly realtor in Saskatoon and I invite individuals from the GLBT community in Saskatoon who are looking to buy or sell to speak to me about the process. I am always open to working with individuals from all walks of life and am a GLBT friendly realtor in Saskatoon.

Beyonce In Saskatoon

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

I have been fortunate to see quite a few concerts in Saskatoon and I recently went to see Beyonce in Saskatoon. This was, by far, the best concert I have seen in my life! Beyonce was incredible with many wardrobe changes (albeit some of her choices were not my favorites!) and incredible energy, vocals and dance moves. I wasn’t expecting to enjoy myself so much and it honestly snuck up on me…but I wouldn’t hesitate to go back to see her again and again as the entertainment value was unbelievable.

She played all of my faves and even a few tributes to Canadian singers like Sarah McCloghlin and Alanis Morrissette.

You can tell she is passionate about what she does and she puts so much energy and love into her performance that it was absolutely contagious. I looked hard to see if she was lip synching as I didn’t think any singers voice could sound that amazing live…and if she was pulling a Brittany Spears I sure as heck couldn’t tell! She had the crowd dancing and singing and it was overall a very good atmosphere of people having fun.

It is so nice to see huge names coming to Saskatoon to perform. We have had some really big names in the past year.

I know the Eagles concerts in early March brought in people from all over this part of Canada/US and I am sure our enthusiasm and appreciation will keep bands like this coming back for more. Now that Saskatoon is getting bigger hopefully more big names will keep coming to our great city and bringing us their music and acts.

Taste Of Saskatchewan

Monday, July 21st, 2008

I have to admit that Taste of Saskatchewan is one of my most favorite events of the summer…well, of the entire year! I enjoyed it a total of 6 times this year. I moved back to Saskatoon several years ago and any time I have new clients who move to Saskatoon I always like to tell them about TOS. It is one of the best events and there are always great bands, great people watching, and great food put on of course by Conexus Credit Union, and as I work for Century 21 Conexus in Saskatoon, I figured I should make sure to support it as much as possible. There were 30 restaurants from Saskatoon that took part in the event. One of my new favorites, Cactus Joes, had incredibly tasty sweet potato fries. Taste of Saskatchewan gives everyone in Saskatoon the ability to sample at many of our tones of restaurants and is a great time for people who are new to our beautiful city to check out great places to eat and enjoy live entertainment, to sit with strangers and enjoy the food and hopefully some conversation with some of our friendly Saskatoonians.

Saskatchewan Jazz Fest Gets Additional Federal Funding

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

For those of you who have had the opportunity to visit the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival in previous years will be happy to hear that the federal government has increased it’s funding to this incredible event from $38,000 to $80,000.  The Saskatchewan Jazz Festival is put on by SaskTel and is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing Jazz to the province of Saskatchewan.  The Jazz festival this year will be held in the city of Saskatoon from June 20-29 in various locations around our city.  I have attended this event in previous years and have to say it’s one of the most enjoyable weekends of the summer in Saskatoon.  The city is extremely busy with music in the air.  Whether you are a frequent jazz listener or just someone wanting something to do during the week the Saskatchewan Jazz festival is definitely an event you will want to attend.  For other events that are happening in our city be sure to check out my Saskatoon events page for up to date information on upcoming events.

Saskatoon Home Owners – Earth Hour 2008

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Earth Hour is a global event organized by the World Wildlife Federation.  On March 29th at 8pm until 9pm millions of people around the world will do one very simple thing which will deliver a powerful and symbolic message about the need to address global warming.  Starting at 8pm on the 29th people around the world will turn off their lights in their home and businesses for 1 hour.  This includes things like televisions, computers, etc.  I think this is an amazing idea and it unites everyone in the world that believes that global warming is a real threat that needs to be addressed.  I encourage all Saskatoon home owners and everyone else in Saskatoon and the surrounding areas to take part in this event.  This is an amazing opportunity to contribute to the overall success of an important message.  Be sure to tell friends and family of this event.  Some people may think what can I possibly do for an hour without the lights on?  As for myself I plan on spending the night with a few friends and lighting a few candles and just enjoy some quality time with them.  Be sure to spread the word around about Earth Hour and do your part as a Saskatoon home owner and turn your lights off on March 29th from 8pm to 9pm.  Be sure to check out the video at You Tube!
